Our planet is full Micro Organisms. They affect not only our health and hygiene, but affect many other aspects of life in many ways. It affects the Plant kingdom, Food products, water etc. With the advent of Micro & Nano technology, we are gradually becomming more and more aware of them. Science has done lot of advancement in this field, but still to reach at it's threshold. Future is the age of Nano-technology. Focus has shifted from Macro into Micro structures. Genetic engineering, Clonning all are just the beginning of a new horizon to enter into a whole new era of Research & Development. Very recently scientists have decoded all human genes with the help of computers and recorded in the form of a book and it is being said to be one of the greaest inventions of the century. The book has been name as Book of Life. It is said that upto 2020, genetic enginering will reach at a height where scientists will be able to stop the process of aging. Thus Microbiology students can expect for a promising & thrilling career. Being a third wold country, our economy is basically dependent upon Agriculture. Agro & Food processing is a growing industry in India. Micro biologists are in great demand in these industries. They are responsible for verification of contamination and infection of foods and beverages before packed. Pharmaceutical industry provides another vast scope to Micro biologists. Micro biologists examine the effects of Drugs over Germs & Viruses. There Micro biologists are supposed to have a better hold over main stream medical students.
